Daily Doorsteps since 1999
In 1999, I started taking a simple, repetitive photo every day. Early each
morning I step outside to feel the morning air, “check the day” - and
quickly take a picture of the doorstep and the view. When I am away from
home, I take my camera along to wherever I am when I “check the day.”
Within the accumulated texture of these quiet moments are many ordinary
days, holidays, days of grief and travel - all threads of a life lived.
Cumulatively there’s a sense of moving through the seasons; each day it’s a
moment of being present, of being aware of existing.
